Why is it Not Recommended to Feed Honey to Infants Younger than 12 Months?

It is not recommended due to infant botulism. Botulism is a serious illness caused by the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum proliferating in the gastrointestinal organs. Infants’ digestive systems are sensitive to this bacteria, but they develop resistance after one year of age. Therefore, honey is not recommended in infant feeding.
